VIDEO POKER RULES
Online Video Poker machines operate like any other Video Poker machines
found in casinos throughout the world. The main difference is that you
can switch your bet amount without changing to another machine. A 52-card
deck is used (53 for Joker Poker) and is reshuffled after each hand.
HOW TO PLAY
The objective of Video Poker is to gain the highest ranked five-card
poker hand possible. To begin playing Video Poker, you must deposit
money into the machine. Denominations include: $1, $5 or $25, although
some machines offer 25 cent games. Depending on the game format, you
either drag and drop or click on the coins to place your bet.
At this point, the amount of coins you have available to bet on this
hand is shown in the "CREDIT" field at the bottom of the
Video Poker machine. The "COIN" field displays the amount
of coins you have selected. Please note that the "BALANCE"
field will not change when you change the coin denomination since
they show your balance in dollars (not coins).
Once you have deposited to the Video Poker machine, you may then click
on the "Bet One" button up to the amount of coins you would
like to play to a maximum of 5 coins. If you would like to play with
the maximum number of coins (5), you may alternatively choose to simply
click the "Bet Max" button. When you are ready, click on
the "Deal" button to distribute the cards.
You will be given 5 cards. The machine uses a 52-card deck (53 for
Joker Poker), which is shuffled after each hand. Then you hold the
card(s) you need in order to achieve the highest ranked poker hand
possible.
You may hold cards by simply clicking on the hold button. Select your
cards based upon normal poker hand values, shown in the chart below.
Once you have selected the cards to hold, click on the "DEAL"
button again. The cards that were not marked as "HELD" will
be replaced. If after this replacement, the hand is over. If you have
a hand that qualifies for a payout, your credit will be automatically
increased by the amount of coins shown in the "PAID" field.
To change the type of Video Poker machine you are playing, click on
"Exit" (VERY IMPORTANT: do not exit any game by clicking
on the upper right hand corner "X" symbol. Always use the
"Exit" button). Then, return to the menu and select the
game you would like to play. When you change the game type, your credit
and coin denominations will not change.
Note: You can only change the Video Poker machines when your hand
is finished.
STANDARD GAME TYPES:
Jacks or Better
This is the most popular version of Video Poker. Basically, you need
to get a pair of jacks or better in order to get paid (hence the name).
Let's assume you bet five coins. If you get a pair of Jacks or better,
you get five coins back. You deposited five coins to begin with, and
you just got your original five coins back! In order to really win,
you must get two pairs or better. The amount of coins you win depends
on how good your hand is. (see the payout chart)
Deuces Wild
In the Deuces Wild version of Video Poker, all deuces are treated
as wild cards. This means that whenever you get a 2, you can use that
card as any card you like - you can therefore change it's face value
and/or suit to work with the hand you have. With Deuces Wild, you
have a far better chance of getting good hands. The casino compensates
for this by offering a tighter payout schedule. You only get paid
with a three of a kind or better.
Jokers Wild
Jokers Wild is five-card draw poker with the addition of one joker.
This means you are playing with a 53-card deck instead of 52. The
Joker is a wild card, and can be played as any card you want.
The existence of a wild card increases your chances of getting a good
hand, so the payout schedule is adjusted accordingly. You need two
pair or better to get paid.
Doubling Video Poker
Doubling offers you the chance to double the current value of your
payout. Here's how to play. After winning a poker hand, you press
the double button. The cards are reshuffled and a new set of 5 cards
is drawn. But only the first card is exposed. This is the dealer's
card. Select one of the remaining four cards by clicking on it.
1. If the card you select has a rank higher than the dealer's card,
you will win double your original payout. You have a chance to double
your payout again on the next hand or collect your winnings.
2. If the card you selected is of equal rank, there is a tie and you
can collect your winnings or try again.
3. If the card you choose is of lesser rank than the dealer's, you
lose and will not receive a payout.
